Mission Statement:
As a diverse source of college interest entertainment, we offer the Washington State University student body a platform for self expression and broadcast experience. We aim to serve our community in bold and creative content through a supportive and engaging environment.
KUGR College Radio is a service of the Edward R. Murrow College of Communication at Washington State University
History
Established in 1954, KUGR was the go-to station at Washington State University as the radio waves were wired into every building on campus. In the mid-1970s, we gained a FM signal and became the only rock and roll station on the Palouse as KUGR 95.1 Rock. Today, you can hear student created content all day, every day, live on kugr.org.
In 1976, KUGR brought rock band Heart to Pullman to perform live in studio.
In 2014, the KUGR Board of Directors invested in brand new broadcast equipment to keep the station running smoothly and created a new logo to help the station rebrand. In September, one of the buildings of the communication complex was renamed after KUGR alum, Keith Jackson, who is best known for being the first play-by-play announcer on Monday Night Football on ABC.
KUGR continues to be the best stop for sports and rock on the Palouse.
